The total days figure represents the number of days between the two dates (an exclusive count) — for example, January 1 to January 2 is 1 day apart. If you need an inclusive count (counting both endpoints), add 1 to the total days result.

Why does adding days sometimes land on an unexpected date across a month boundary?
